USA failed to reach Final - Again.

The dream of crowned as world champion has to wait for another 4 years as USA has failed again to qualify for the finals of FIBA World Cup 2023. Fans have raised many points on the performances of USA basketball team. Even, Stephen A. Smith said some harsh truth on the defeats of USA men's basketball team.

USA's Performance in FIBA 2023 - 

USA basketball team got a smooth start in the tournament with a winning over New Zealand with score of 99 - 72. They maintained the form in next match against Greece with a score of 81 to 109, winning side USA and then, swept Jordan at 110 to 62 score. But the team got halted in their fourth main match against Montenegro with a score of 85 to 73, baskets under 100 and points difference less than 15. Fans concerned on team USA's performance when in fifth match against Lithuania they lost on score 104 to 110. Despite the loss, USA got back against Italy with a score of 100 to 63 and quality for semis. But the underdog Germany was ready to break the dream of America. Although the semifinal game was very close with both teams scored 100+ baskets, but Germany cut above with 113 points to eliminate the USA who scored 111.

Experts' Opinions on the Performance of team USA - 

Social medias and Sports channels were filled with criticism of fans and experts. According to them, USA Basket Team was too young to handle the world cup pressure. While there were many veteran NBA stars present, none of them were taken to World Cup. Famous sports critic Shephen A. Smith has referred team USA's performance as 'Glaring' while saying, 'International competition is different and USA, it's Exposed. Because of their lack of depth and cohesiveness.' Basketball Coach Steve Kerr also gave his opinion by saying, 'This is not 1992 anymore. So, it is not easy to win a World Cup or Olympic' as teams and players all over world has improved. Few weeks earlier U.S. sprinter Noah Lyles mocked NBA championship for referring themselves as World Champions and this type of situations strengthened their statements more.

USA's FIBA records - 

This is second consecutive time USA didn't qualify for the FIBA finals. Last time they did was in 2014, nearly decades ago. Even though USA has five world cups tied with Yugoslavia, being the home of some of biggest names in basketball team USA's performance was below average. 

Fans are hoping that team USA will improvise its roster with some experience and will come home with gold in 2024 Paris summer Olympic. How will USA make that possible and what'll the changes that is still in question mark.
