FIBA 2023 Winner Germany and No-Medel homecoming for the USA
Germany won their maiden title in FIBA World Cup 2023 last night. They defeated the Serbia in a close match of 83 - 77 points. Earlier in 2022, Germany basketball team won bronze in FIBA EuroBasket 2022. German fans are celebrating as they've won two major events consecutively, but USA is not in the same situation as the team has lost to Canada for bronze and has to return without any medal.

Germany was prepared to face two-time world champion Serbia at Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. They started with Franz Wagner (SF), Johannes Voigtmann (CF), Daniel Theis (C), Dennis Schröder (PG) and Andreas Obst (SG).
Performance:
In Quater 1, Serbia definitely controls the game and with a very physical game from the starting they got lead of 3 points, 26 - 23. But Germany showed their intensity in 2nd Quater with both team going back and forth on each other, Issac Bonga leading Serbia while Toronto Raptor Star Schröder managing Germany's side the score tied on 47 - 47. Now Quater 3 became a very crucial point for both the teams to take leading. Germany leading the scoreboard with double digits and Schröder was unstoppable in this quarter which gave Germany a 12-point lead. in last Quater, Germany held 7-point lead for long time Serbia showed their tenacity and lower the gap butt that wasn't enough. Germany beat the Serbia to win their 1st ever FIBA World Cup. From eliminating USA to defeating Serbia, Germany never gave up and the underdog got what they deserved.
Awards:
As anticipated, German star Dennis Schröder named as MVP of the FIBA World Cup 2023. He averages 19.1 points, 6.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game in the tournament while scoring 28 points, 2 assists and 2 rebounds in the final.
Loss of USA for Bronze -
While Germany was Celebrating Gold, situation was dire for USA. As, Canada beat them for 3rd place of the tournament. Even with a game passing 100 points, USA came short of 9-points, resulting 118 - 127 points in favor of Canada. D Brooks scored 39 points for Canadian side while A. Edwards scored 24 baskets for USA as leading scorer from respective teams. Despite their loss all four teams have been qualified for Paris Olympic 2024.
Fans are congratulating Germany as the new World Champions while criticizing USA for their performances throughout the World Cup league. Germany remains undefeated and got additional moral boost to performing well in Paris. Fans also are eagerly waiting for the changes USA will make for the Olympics. Will they include veterans like KD, Lebron and Curry or they'll train the young team more to coordinate better, we can only know that in 2024.
